New Stampin Up products - Paper bag die - available 6th January 2015

The new paper bag die it is called Mini Treat Bag Thinlits die and will be item number 137547 in the spring summer and sale-a-bration catalogue release.

I loved the idea of this die and could not wait to try it. I have found out something about the die...it will NOT fit in the Cuttlebug, it is too wide. I have not yet purchased the big shot from Stampin up as I am limited for space, and the next machine I wanted to buy would have been an A4 machine, and hopefully one that folded like the Cuttlebug. I have used the die by using some else's machine and I do love it.

The word dies are included, as is the bow. It is not a Christmas set, but I wanted to make these just before Christmas, they would be great for a small quick gift.

Stampin Up Kraft Grid Journal decorated

Stampin Up sell a lovely Kraft Grid Journal that can be decorated to your own taste. They come in a pack of two and you can see at the bottom of the post for details to purchase from my store.

The first one I altered, was purchased as soon as it was seen by someone at my work place! This one I have used a piece of the burlap ribbon, which is fun to use, it adds great texture to a project. This time I have made a paper clip as well this time instead of a book mark.

I Hope you like them. :)

Stampin Up Blendabilities storage using Ferni designs pen holder.

I have had a fun day gluing together my pen holder and then decorating it. The blendabilities pen fit perfectly, the pen overhands from the front by about 1cm, this helps you to pick the pen from the shelf. You can also store the pens inside the container that they are sent to you from Stampin Up, apart from the skin tones pack. This is the picture of the storage unit after gluing together and before decorating.

I then got out my Stampin Up Hexagon punch, and started punching old and new papers from Stampin up. It is a great way of remembering all the papers, and using up the scraps. After a lot of sorting and gluing, they are sort of in a rainbow effect, and the top is black, white, grey and browns.I wanted the decoration to remain flat as I do not have a great deal of room so may have to stack the unit. The butterflies do have a bit of dazzling details. I used the lace Stampin up trim for the edges.

You can even store them in the original packaging, shown in the photo above.

Fits perfectly above my ink pads.

Decorated Initial 'S' - My first altered letter.

I have had a great time decorating this MDF letter S.

The MDF was covered with gesso to start with, then I used a flower stencil and some stencil paste to give the center part some texture. I then painted over the whole letter and after this was dry I added highlights with Inka-Gold and the colour I used was 'Gold'. This made the stenciling stand out and gave a nice texture and highlight to the edges of the letter. You can see the shine in the picture below.

I have used some clay items that I made using moulds I have. I used a head that I had made with terracotta air dry clay, and rubbed over Inka-Gold. I did the same with a clock face. The two swirls were made with white paper clay which is very light weight and these I coloured gold. I also added a clay key that had been painted bronze, but I rubbed over Inka-Gold again.

All around the edge, I glued a lovely lace trim.

I added the Tim Holtz dangle from the top, and I had a metal pendant frame, that I added a picture to. Before adding glossy accents to the picture I added micro beads around the edge for some interest. Also the metal pendant was silver coloured and I got out the Inka-Gold again so that it matched in with the other embellishments.

The flowers were either wild orchid crafts, prima, or other flowers from my stash.

My first altered letter, and I had a lot of fun.

I have made a lovely lace box to keep my laces in, so the are clean, tidy and tangle free! I used a cereal box, covred it with Stampin up papers and decorated with lace and trims. I have three more boxes to decorate so watch this space!
